I lived at Shelter Cove for just under 11 months(moved out early due to military orders) and liked certain things about my apartment whereas many things I hated.

Pros: Very close proximity to Ft. Meade where I'm stationed(about 8 or 9 mins. max drive). I rented a 1 bedroom w/den which had good amount of space and the kitchen had like-new cabinets. The dishwasher, stove, and oven all worked fine the entire time with no problems. Assigned parking was nice so I never had to park far away. 10% discount for active duty military(that might have changed though). Just down the road from a shopping center with grocery, pharmacy, and post office. Easy access to Baltimore, DC, and Arundel Mills. A/C and heating worked extremely well too.

Cons: ANNOYING NEIGHBORS AND THEIR BAD-ASS KIDS! One apartment on the second floor of my building had these welfare thugs that did nothing but loiter on the stairs and entryway drinking and yelling all day and night. They spent more time on the stairs and entryway than in their apartment! GO TO SCHOOL OR GET JOBS! The aparment directly above me had a dog that liked to bark at EVERYTHING and NOTHING all day long! Sometimes it would bark for 5 or 6 hours straight. Kids of the lazy/ignorant parents would play around in the middle of the courts late at night and nearly get run over by cars entering them. Break-ins and burglaries occur on a regular basis(don't get a ground floor apartment). Even the leasing center with a 24 hour security system was broken into. There is absolutely nothing for kids to do here so most of them resort to vanalism or loitering in places they're not supposed to. A lot of this DRASTICALLY improved after Grady Management took over but is still a problem. Spiders were a regular problem but roaches and other insects were rare. Had one major maintenance issue with my bathtub for the first 3 months. The previous management installed a bathtub liner in order to avoid having to install an entirely new bathtub. The only problem is that there were cracks in the sealing around the bathtub liner which caused water to leak under the liner thus causing a "water-bed" like surface to balance on while taking a shower. Took THREE months to get it fixed! However, Grady management only took one month to get it fixed out of that 3.

Overall: I wouldn't recommend at all staying in a ground-floor due to the many break-ins. It's good enough if you desperately need a low rent with good square footage and don't need much in the way of amenities or quiet neighbors. However, I wouldn't stay here again. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS

This place is by far the worst in America. The only thing worse is a third World country.
