First, when reading these reviews--please check the dates. Most of the really bad ones seem to be a few years ago.

First off, very safe. Well lit, guests have to be buzzed in, etc.

I moved in September, and have enjoyed my stay so far. I have a 3rd floor apartment with adjoining garage, which is very nice. However, I have to park my car outside because the wife uses the garage--sometimes parking is a pain. If you have one car, not a problem though.

Sound can be an issue, people below me love to play loud music on the weekends. However, it's usually ONLY on the weekends and generally early evening, not late into the night. Some neighbors are quite active, if you know what I mean. However, it's not all bad--they are quick.

Our dishwasher doesn't dry dishes very well, so we let them sit in it overnight. Not a big deal. Easier than dealing with maintenance! Some of the things aren't level, like the light switch for the balcony. I noticed this after doing a superb job with my laser level on my own things.

Washer and dryer in the unit are great, although you have to click up the TV a few more notches! Not a bad problem to have I guess.

US Postal service doesn't like to ring your bell for packages, and Fedex refuses to leave them so you have to drive 20 miles away to get those. However, UPS always rings or leaves at the office. US Post Office isn't far away if you have to get something from them.

I could go on and on, but I will just end by saying it's a very nice place to live if you don't want a pool and other outside amenities (although the "sister" apartment complex down the road allows Winterset residents to use that pool) and walking an extra 30 feet from your car isn't a big deal to you (as it shouldn't be).
