We came to Chase Lea seeking a one bedroom apt and were happy with their prices, the grounds, and the leasing agent was nice and stayed late to show us around and discuss our options. The same day we saw the model, we filled out applications and left the deposit and fees. We waited for weeks (no joke) to hear back from the leasing office of our approval. When we didn't hear back the first week, I called and they gave me the excuse that since it was over a holiday and the agent we saw never left a note for the property manager the applications were never processed. Giving them another week, I called again to find that the agent we spoke to was again unable to process the applications for personal reasons. It was about 2 weeks later that they managed to process only one of the applications, after which they called only because they needed more information. Weeks go by and nothing more is heard from them about the other application. In the end, we found another apartment, cancelled the checks and when they finally got around to calling us we informed them we were no longer interested in Chase Lea.
To tell you the truth, I'm glad we did not end up there, there was always something in the back of my mind telling me it would be a bad move even before this back and forth (or lack thereof) with management. Upon closer examination of the construction, it is very poor as there seem to have been no renovations since the buildings were originally built (in 1989) and much of the wood is now deteriorated and rotting, particularly in the stairwells. The appliances are extremely dated (they looked older than me), and it looks like they wouldn't replace them unless they threatened to burn down the complex. The gazebos look nice by their pictures on the web, but in reality they are as run down as (if not moreso than) the apartments. The car wash area consists of just a hose, which the maintenance man told me would not be of much use to me (I guess he didn't want me to use it' He was very unprofessional looking by the way).
I forgot to mention that we called on multiple occasions to hear about the apartment but oftentimes no one would answer the phone. One day, I got so tired of calling I decided to drive down and see the agent(s) personally. They had a sign up (during business hours) saying they would be back shortly; I waited about 15-20 minutes until I saw the agent sneaking in through the back door with shopping bags! During my wait tenants came to the leasing office and were upset to see them closed, one woman commenting that it was ridiculous (I had to agree). Also, it was not until this time that I learned that I would need a pool pass to get into the pool and would have to pay $2 per additional pass for guests (a small hidden fee, yes, but what else are they hiding'') All in all, they are a pretty shady leasing company (I might mention here that we went to see Chartleytowne Apts run by the same Morgan Properties against better judgment some weeks earlier and NO ONE was at the leasing office even after we waited 30 minutes). There were things that attracted us to the complex (price, spacious/storage, quiet setting), but like they say you get what you pay for. Chase Lea needs a lot of work in the leasing office and especially in the apartments themselves.

In response to the person who responded on 7/2007, my review was based solely on my experience in being a potential renter. Not once did I say that I had moved in; luckily I was not as stupid as him or her who left the rude comment. From my experience with Chase Lea and other Morgan Properties, I would recommend other POTENTIAL renters not to move here. The site is here to give your opinion to those who would like that of others with some, if any, experience with the community. It does not say that you must live at the community to create a post. Posting actually states that current, former, or PROSPECTIVE tenants can post and that employees are NOT to post. Now, if you have a problem with that, I suggest you write the creators of the site and complain; otherwise, let the rest of us get on with our lives and give our opinion as is allowed by the First Amendment of the United States Bill of Rights.

You didn't even move in? How can you accurately judge the complex?
