Going downhill quickly...

I moved into the complex when it had just opened, had no problems, liked the management company and enjoyed the quietness of the half-full building. In the last few months, Bozutto management has destroyed the place. They are desperate the fill the place and so they will let just about anyone live here. My new neighbors are loud, come and go out the side door leaving cracked open for their friends at all hours of the night, let their children run the halls at near 1AM, and smoke pot constantly. They then walk the hallways spraying awful smelling air freshener.

I chose this apartment, despite the horrendous commute down 795 in the morning because it is simply beautiful. However, now residents are letting their dogs pee in the hallways and stairwells; someone has "tagged" a good portion of the signs outside; and if you don't have a giant red parking pass on your mirror, the office will send a tow truck into the garage and tow your car on a Monday at 11PM.

When I signed my lease I was told I could go month-to-month following my one year stay; but I just received a letter from Bozutto laying out my options: Sign for another year for $50 more a month (we are in the middle of a housing downturn); sign for 6 months for $100 more a month, or go month to month for $200 more a month. This puts rent at $1465 a month for a single on the third floor. Ridiculous, I might as well move the city or closer to work.

The area around the mall is dangerous, and no longer safe. There are 5 ways to get into the building without having a "pass" and there have been several attempted break-ins on first floor apartments (smashed patio doors, if you like drama). Police officers used to sit outside the AMC, but have been gone for the past few months.

Although the amenities were once nice and the model apartments are luring, save yourself the hard-earned cash and opt for somewhere safe and caring.
