THERE WAS A DOUBLE MURDER IN THE BUILDING NEXT TO ME, THEY SENT OUT A LETTER NOT STATING WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPEND, BUT WARNING US THAT WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL BECAUSE IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT WE COULD BE THE NEXT VICTIM. IT GAVE US SURVIVAL STRATIGIES SO TO SPEAK. I AM VERY AFRAID TO SLEEP AT NIGHT IT ISNT CLEAR WHAT REALLY HAPPEND THE NEWS SAY IT APPEARS TO BE A ROBBERY AND THEY HAVE NO SUSPECTS IN THE DEATHS OF A 17 YEAR OLD AND HIS UNCLE. THE MANAGEMENT IS TRYING TO SAY THEY KNEW THERE PERPATRATORS. I DONT HAVE TO MUCH FAITH HERE ANYMORE. THEY ALSO ONLY HAVE 2 MAINTENENCE IN ABOUT A 200 UNIT COMPLEX, AND IT TAKES CALLING THEM BACK CONSTANTLY TO GET A WORK ORDER DONE. THE RENT IS TOO MUCH FOR THIS, STAY AWAY FROM LAKESIDE MILLS !!!!!!

Amen! It took a resident, who found out about the murder from an out-of-state relative, writing a letter and posting it on other residents' doors to get the office to notify residents of what happened. The apartments are nice, Nikki the office manager needs a course in customer service!

I am so glad that I decided not to renew my lease. I have lived in fear here since the double murders took place. Then there were three break-ins occuring within a two day time period recently. We always receive these bogus letters from the office indicating that we should use caution and exercise vigilence when entering and exiting our units that's bs. I am completely afraid to leave my apartment after a certain time and let's not mention going in after dark. I used to go out in the evenings, but not anymore. Well not unless I have a date and that's still risky. In the letter, they indicated that we should notify the office when the lights are not working in and around the premises. I reported a non-working light about three months ago and it still hasn't been replaced. Let's not talk about the trash area, the conditions are deplorable. I feel like I am living on Pennsylvania Ave in B-more City based on the conditions and this is nothing new. The two female staff members are truly ghetto and this is no overstatement. They are the epitome of rude, unprofessional and any other words you think of that mean terrible. There are two maintenance guys for this midsized apt.complex, which is an atrocity. One is friendly and somewhat competent (nepotism), but the other is unfriendly and not very competent (lucky). In fact, one weekend I had a major situation and unfortunately he was on call. Not only did it take about two hours for him to respond to my emergency calls, but he took about three hours to physically arrive. Once he arrived, it took him at least five visits that day before the problem was finally bandaged until a later time. Their extended staff is also unprofessional, but I will leave that alone for now. Think long and hard before moving here, do your research and most importantly don't take into consideration that these apts are the most reasonable in the Lakeside Blvd vicinity, you will definitely pay more in the long run, receive sub-par service and living conditions and you will most likely regret your decision unless you are just looking for a place to lay your head.

I just got approved for my apartment here, and after reading all of your reviews and the murder that happened here...god I'm really regretting this move. Do you know which apartment the murder happened in or what building? What street?

It never seems to amaze me how. We as people assume that any management company can control murder. Are you guys serious? I doubt if anyone can control that. I lived at Lakeside for the last 4 years and I actually enjoyed my home. That murder thing did scare me, but it really had nothing to do with me and I have never had a problem, but I guess it truly depends on the person. I pay my rent on time and I hardly ever went into the office. Those ladies seemed okay to me. I had one request in for my dishwasher and they fixed it. So that was it. Not everyone can be as lucky I guess! Or that emotional. But I will be re-newing my lease.

I have been living here at Lakeside Mill for a year. I have never had a problem, Nikki and her Asst Manager were always professional. Everytime I placed a service call, they came out right away and resolved the problem, they were always very professional. There is always going to be problem in a large apartmnent development, no matter where you go there will be issues. And as for the murder, there was a murder in the development right next to Lakeside Mill a couple years ago, sure you will be concerned, but the victims knew their killers. I think it was nice of the rental office to alert their tenants.
