I am starting to think the "perfect" apartment is a myth

I rented a downstairs apartment facing the street, which had an attached garage. Every weekday beginning at 5am, the traffic starts. I recommend not renting facing the street if you can avoid it. Unfortunately, the garages are only available on street facing units on some buildings. Get a top floor if you can afford it too, or pray that you have an old lady living above you. My first upstairs neighbor was a single mother with kids and the noise was unacceptable. I complained to the complex management for months until they either kicked her out, or she moved on her own. These apartments were built shabbily. I had a pipe leaking behind the wall. 2 walls were not straight, they were bowed out. The incorrect circuit breaker was installed, which caused the clothes dryer to trip the circuit breaker after 2 minutes of running. The management first changed out the dryer. I got home and the problem still persisted. I read the instruction manual and found out the circuit breaker was the problem, not the dryer, which meant another trip from the maintenance people. Also, when the dryer was replace, a hole about 3 inches in diameter was gouged out of the linoleum floor in the kitchen in the process. The dishwasher broke after 1 use. The heating side of the air conditioner was broken. The parking lot was jam packed after 6pm, luckily for me, I had a garage.

The only window in the place, in my bedroom, leaked. There was a quarter inch gap between the bottom of the front door and the floor. Also, my apartment has a common entrance, like a hotel. The result is that you hear everyone coming into and going out of the building.

All of this was a bit too much, considering the apartment was BRAND NEW. It had not been lived in yet. Unfortunately I signed a 1 year lease, which I could only get out of without forfeiting 3 months rent.

Hi, I am relocating from Jersey and when I called regarding these apartments, the rental lady was rude. That was enough to make me not even want to visit these apartments. I'm glad I didn't waste my time. Thanks for the review!
