Red Run Makes Us See Red

Seeking an upstanding and permanent place to reside, my wife and I settled on what appeared to be a well-maintained and relatively quaint apartment complex called Red Run. The apartment staff was friendly and helpful upon moving in, and everything seemed to be as advertised.
It took just weeks, however, to find that our living standards were of the absolute contrary. Firstly and most persistently, the insulation to outside and neighborly noise is basically non-existent. Living on the ground level makes you especially prone to this annoyance. Not only are we pestered by a continual heard of elephant-like tenants using the adjacent stairways at all hours, we feel as though we know our upstairs neighbor entirely too well. Based on the lack of insulation, we are acutely aware when she is conversing, cleaning/vacuuming, wearing high heels and even lovemaking. This situation is further complicated by the fact that this neighbor is nocturnal. Multiple complaints to the rental office have yielded no real resolve to this situation.
Secondly, there appears to be a ventilation issue. Any time our ground-level neighbors prepare a meal, we seem to have a good idea as to what it consists of based on the odor leaking through the laundry vent. As luck would have it, it appears our neighbors are big curry enthusiasts. We, however, are not.
Thirdly, the appliances seem to be a bit substandard. The microwave needs to have occasional nudging by virtue of a firm tap in order to actually create heat. Also, despite investigation by the maintenance department, the auto-defrost feature of our refrigerator is malfunctioning, causing a leaking of water from the freezer to the refrigeration portion of the appliance. According to facilities maintenance, the best remedy for this problem is to stick a bowl collecting this water and occasionally emptying its frozen contents.
Most dauntingly, the parking facilities create the biggest issue. Aside from its glaring unavailability after 7pm, most tenants choose to violate handicap and fire zone regulations in order to avoid using an adjacent auxiliary lot. The fire zone is a very legitimate safety issue. Persistent calls to county police have, at best, yielded a disbursement of parking tickets to those in violation. The rental office has neatly washed their hands of this situation on several occasions.
Parking lot safety is non-existent as well. There have been no less that three parking lot assaults by outsiders on tenants after sundown during our nine months of residency. Additionally, I personally have witnessed two drug deals and chased away a masked person sitting on the pavement between two rows of cars. I am absolutely insistent on escorting my wife from the parking lot when she returns from her job after dark. If we are entertaining guests, I make sure they leave before sundown.
Needless to say, we WILL NOT be renewing our lease in the Fall.

I completely agree with this. It is an accurate despcription of living at red run apartments. I am not from Maryland and thought people over exaggerated the dangers here in this state, but all of this is completely true. I'm learning to fire a nine correctly, and before moving I was anti-personal firearms.

I agree with this review 100%. I don't think the tenants have elephant like footstep. It might have something to do with lack of noise insulation between floors. I'm leaving this place as well after my lease is over.
