Trust me, I have lived here 3 years...

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2006
I have lived here for 3 years and I did not stay because I like it here. I moved here in April 03. All of the apartments were not even finished yet and my building was nearly empty. That first 9 months were great. I could occasionally hear the person above me walk from the living room to the bathroom or from the bedroom to the kitchen but I didn??t let that spoil my comfort. You expect that anyway when you live in an apartment.
But then the complex began to fill up.
Then there was no parking, the compactor always had a ton of trash on the ramp so you couldn??t even get up there to see if it was broken or not and the noise became overwhelming. Now the occasional noise from the person upstairs was amplified by the people arguing or talking in the parking lot, the loud music coming from car radios, hall and apartment doors slamming, my neighbor opening and closing her kitchen drawers and the unwillingness of management to do anything.
Every negative comment listed here is absolutely true. Someone WAS shot here and the police and ambulances are always here. Probably because management??s solution for the noise is to call the police on your neighbor. If I had not been working on my degree at Hopkins I would have moved after the first year. I just didn??t have time or money to go through the hassle of moving. But thankfully all that is over and I am out of here at the end of May.
I have lived in a lot of apartments and this place is the absolute worst when it comes to the amount of noise you have to put up with. I don??t blame the residents; I blame the paper thin walls and the inattentive managers. But I can??t think of anything they could really do' They can??t make the walls thicker and they can??t ask potential renters not to make any noise after they move in. A lot of the noise is just from normal everyday living but because the place is constructed so poorly the noise is amplified.
So if you don??t mind hearing your neighbors TV while you are trying to sleep or your neighbors having sex, or your neighbors choice of music blaring through your window even though your window is closed and their window is closed, or having someone call the police on you because you have your radio turned up so you can hear it throughout the apartment, then this is the place for you.
Otherwise, I suggest you keep looking. You??ve been warned. The grounds a nicely maintained and the apartments look beautiful but do not be fooled, if you want a nice QUIET place to rest your head at night, this is NOT the place for you.
