Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2008
I've lived at Watermill now for almost six years, in two different apartments, and I have to say that it's an okay place to live. I've decided to write this because I'm in the process of moving and I thought some reflection would be good.
Pros:
- ALL the utilities are included in the price. I can't tell you how nice it is not having to worry about writing out a half dozen checks for gas, heat, electricity and water.
- Considering the above, the price ranges for apartments are really good.
- The noise can be annoying from time to time, but anything too awful will be handled by the staff. Kid next door used to blast music at all hours of the day. Told the front office and the problem was dealt with right then and there.
- Area is fairly well lit which is nice when you get home from work late.
- They've recently wired the area with Version Fios which is nice for people looking for options in cable & internet. Every apartment has it. Still very new, but I figure it's worth mentioning.
Cons:
- If you do come home after 9 o'clock prepare yourself to park on the street and walk back to your apartment. Also if you have a guest over after 5 o'clock they will have to park on the street because Watermill doesn't have guest parking and cars without permits will be towed.
- The swimming pool is more like a kiddie pool. If you want to go swimming on a regular basis, this place ain't for you. I also hear there is a fitness center somewhere, but I've never had the time to visit it.
- The dishwasher they provide really isn't a dishwasher; it's more of a sanitizer. It took four years and a lot of frustration to find that out. I've learned to clean most of my dishes by hand.
- My oven doesn't work very well, but that is most likely something that varies so if you encounter that problem notify maintenance.
- Speaking of maintenance, it hasn't been all that stellar in the last couple of years. Important stuff will get fixed promptly, but sometimes the small stuff gets ignored.
- Pipes: Most of the water pipes in the buildings are old and my first apartment here (on the first floor) ended up with leaks through the ceiling. The leaks were handled but it was annoying and time consuming to fix.
- Lastly, the windows (especially the large windows) let in cold air. On cold windy nights, prepare to bundle up and crank the heat.
I've had lots of experiences at Watermill, but I can honestly say that it's an okay place to live. I mean come on; I wouldn't have stayed as long as I have if it wasn't a good deal. Great place for college students and families.
