I was tricked into moving into OHV in the fall of 1999 because I was desperate to have a place. Because I was new to the area, I didn't know where I should and shouldn't live. I quickly learned after the rental office gave my first apartment away and suggested I sleep in my car the night before they were done with the apartment I did get because it wasn't ready yet. (I'm still not sure what they had to get ready.)
The space was nice, but I could hear my neighbours next to me, downstairs from me, AND upstairs from me ALL of the time. The neighbours downstairs liked to bang on the door with a broomstick (very ghetto) and the neighbours next door always had visitors, a DJ, or a karaoke machine to wake me up in the middle of the night.
I came home to find my locks were changed without notice several times. No good explanation was given. Then, my bathroom ceiling fell because of a leaking pipe over me. Maintenance "fixed" it. Then mold grew on my ceiling. Every time I cleaned it, more grew. I reported this to the rental office and they did nothing. Finally, when I threatened to withhold rent, the property manager was told about my situation. (So, what DO they discuss in those staff meetings') They repaired my ceiling (two months later) and offered two free movie tickets "for my inconvenience." Well, thanks (sarcastic).
In case you're still thinking about moving to OHV, I agree with the other reviewers. There are children in the street that don't move when you drive by. If you work (meaning you have to move your car), you won't get a good parking space. Plan on parking around a dark corner next to a strange looking truck. All kinds of trucks are parked in the parking lot, taking up two or more spaces.
Oh yeah, and my CAR was STOLEN from IN FRONT of my apartment!
I thank God for allowing me to get out of there and purchase a home in a much better area.
