Oxon Hill Village

Not the same From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 3/26/2005 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005   I grew up in Oxon Hill Village, I was there when it was Dennis Grove Apartments, I was there from around 1976 until like 1989 and back then I didn't think I would be going anywhere, Yes it was crazy back then and through the years there got even crazier, but I loved it there so much that even after we left, my brother and I both became security officers and worked around there even stayed after my brother was shot with a bullet that was meant for a different officer, but that is when we decided that things just seemed to be getting worst and that Oxon Hill Village would never be the same again, Everytime we go back just to ride through and reminis on the older times and memories, we always come across something to remind us of why we left, People are always telling us of when their cars were stolen or vandalized or homes being broken into or the over all look of the grounds and the way staff does not do their jobs as well as the mantality of most of the staff. People just can not believe that Oxon Hill Village was once the place we tell them it was. The staff back then were awsome, now don't get me wrong, the staff back then had a lot of issues amounst themselves but they did always take care of their residents.And you always were made to feel like it was home, shoot, back then we actually could stand out on the fronts and never fear drivebys or never had to worry about complaints of us being unearthly children,It was a safe walk to and from Valley View, our parents never worried about letting us walk to school and back home alone. We all looked out for one another.And again it was never a perfect painted picture but it was deffinatly different from today. I would not want to raise my children there the way it is today.We were raised there, and servived to tell the memories verses living there today and being just a memory.But you know nothing stays the same and everything does change just unfortunatly some not for the best.
