Oxon Hill Village is not family friendly as they advertise. They have a very poor property manager who has what I consider to be an attitude like a military dictator. Security harasses the tenants. Most other people in the office are pleasant and helpful. It wasn't until I moved here that I ever heard of a "community policy" that said you were in violation of your lease if you "continuously walk back and forth in the community" and that use of the amenities (playgrounds, etc.) was a privilege and not a part of your rental lease. Security will question you or your children about where you are going when walking through the complex and if you don't explain they can get physical with you. They should have been around to get physical when my car was stolen a few days after I moved in. It is considered loitering if you are standing holding a conversation in the common areas. You will be asked to move along. Never did I think I would have to be afraid to let a child go out to play for fear of danger from security. The hot water is hot early morning and late night for the most part, don't think you can wash dishes mid-day. Refrigerators are not family size and you'll have lots of trips to the grocery store. There are only 2 washers and 2 dryers in each building so good luck doing laundry. The windows are drafty and you'll need heavy curtains. There is no sound proofing and you'll listen to every foot step overhead. Last but not least, be home by 9:30pm or be prepared to walk a distance from where you park.
