I have lived in Portabello going on 4-years now. Let me tell you that my experience here has been a good one. The rent is affordable, it's a quite community, there are no bugs, the foundation is at least from the 60's so there's no noise from neighbors, and most of all you feel sucluded because of the woodsy scenery.

My only concern with the management of Portabello is the maintenace. I have raised serval concerns regarding plumbing, and the problem still persists (though the crew comes out when I call to fix the problem, but it reoccurs, so therefore I believe that a professional needs to be brought in).

I definately recommend Portabello for someone starting out, or just looking for an affordable and convenient place to live. It's just 10 miles away from Downtown, DC!
