I recently moved to Portabello. The apartment itself is BEAUTIFUL!. New appliances, granite counter tops-the look and feel of a house and not a apartment.
On the flip side-My heat doesn't work, I had a sewage back up-literally crap all over my bathroom floor and there are all types of insects crawling around in my apartment. Just this morning I found one of the biggest spiders I have ever seen.
The sewage backup really did it for me. The maintenace workers wiped away what they could from the floors, but it still took me to get on my hands and knees to scrub it out of the floor tiles. The electrical wiring in my apartment is the worst. Because of the the lack of heat I've been forced to buy space heaters. Problem with that-I can't plug the space heater in without it tripping the circuit breaker. I can go on and on about the problems I've had.
The rental office is TERRIBLE! They're the best ran office in the world-until you sign on that dotted line and become a resident. Despite this there are two ladies that I think very highly of. Carolyn-who know longer works there and Tracey. These two ladies really know there stuff and get the job done despite there incompitent staff.
I'm very disappointed in Portabello. I've always looked at the neighborhood as one of the highlights of Oxon Hill. I hope management gets it together soon.
Reggardless if they do or don't-I am not renewing my lease.
