I've lived in Southview since October of 2005.
Let me tell you, when I first moved in... I had to clean mold off of the tiles in the bathroom. Felt like I was working in one of those home improvement shows. It was black as hell. There were dead roaches and broken glass and a used bandage in the medicine cabinet. Not to mention there were dead roaches in the kitchen cabinet and they are so nasty that I don't even use them to put my utensils or food in. I just leave everything neatly stacked on the refrigerator or counter where I can see them.

I had to wait two hours in the rental office to receive my keys on the day that I moved into the apartment. When I got in there, the smell of chemicals was so bad that I had to stay out of the place for almost 2 weeks.

The windows in my bedroom shake whenever someone upstairs walks or the wind blows. My blinds are continuously flapping when the wind blows so I put tape on all of them including the ones on the balcony door.

When I come home every evening. There are thugs on the corner who harrass me! They also smoke weed in my building on the stairway. The smell is so strong that I smelled it in my kitchen one day while I was cooking. I heard gun shots the first week that I lived there. It could happen at anytime of day. It's not something that I want to get use to. I am from Chicago but they have us beat in Oxon Hill. It's hell on earth.

For the price that I pay, I would expect to live in a better environment. I don't even have furniture because I can't afford to replace it if it gets stolen.

Also one last thing... THE NOISE IS HORRIBLE!!
Neighbors are disrespectful, they play oldies at 12am on a week night. The walls are paper thin and when someone closes the door to their apartment the whole building shakes.

So...move in if you are desperate. That's the only reason I did. Oh and If you aren't in by 6pm, you ain't getting a park!!!
