We moved to Southview Apt Last June 2005 with roaches welcoming us. It was summer so its understandable (every apartment has a roach problem). People loiter, especially aggressive men with red eyes looking for someone to terrorize, rob or rape. I also read the Washington Post artcle about Southview in regards to the rampant sexual assaults in the area. Take note: Aside from the men looking for victims outside your apartment, there might be also men INSIDE your apartment who had pried open your door or window waiting to attack you. It's very scary becasue if you see your neighbors, the first thing they will ask you is if you smoke weed. By the way, the whole place smokes like weed. It's like they're having a weed ritual or convention or something. I'm not sure if the weed thingy contributes to the high crime rate of the area.
It's not a safe place to live in. Also, beware of people asking you for help while you are unloading stuff from your car. My husband and I nearly got robbed one time. People vandalize your cars, too!
Southview is a terrible place to live at. If you want to be killed, or raped, or terrorized, live here!

Just for reference, did you read the WHOLE article where it clearly stated that the last attack was in 2005? It is also very unfair to hold the complex responsible for vehicle theft and/or vandalisim when this is a major problem across the entire Metro area. Rape, theft, vandalisism and murder happens any and everywhere, it does not solely take place in 'low-income' communities.

So what if the last attack was in 2005? I don't see any difference! Rape, theft, vandalism does take place in 'low=income' communities and they are the ones oppressed so its a societal problem. You can blame poverty for that. It's too early to tell that there won't be attacks this year, so don't say that the last attack was a few months ago and its okay!
