The walls are thin. Thinner than usual--although it's hard to gauge how much noise is the thinness and how much is the extreme volume of the people I live beside. I happen to be sandwiched between 2 very loud families of SEVEN(!), each in a 2-bedroom apt like mine. But I can often tell you exactly what they are watching on television or what album they are listening to.

For my husband, my son and me, it's a spacious apt. For seven' Constant yelling comes through the walls. (It seems that most of the units in my vicinity are let to families of four or more.) I have to admit that I haven't complained to the management--I feel bad for the families.

Finally, safety is only so-so. I mean,it's Baltimore, so it could be worse. But I've heard gunshots/seen fights (among adults) more than a half dozen times since July. You can move another mile away in almost any direction and be in a safer (and more pleasant) area.

The maintenance staff are great--once they get sent out. The time varies, but I haven't had to wait more than 2 weeks. 2 weeks and three letters. The maintenance man was angry on my behalf at how long it took them to send him out. My heat went out once and it was fixed within 2 hours of my page to emergency maintenance.

The office staff is in constant flux. Sometimes they're great, sometimes they're not. They've lost my paperwork numerous times. The general attitude in the office is adversarial. If you make a heroic effort, you might make someone in there smile, but they are far more likely to scowl through their dealings with you. Right now they are more or less competent. In a few months, who knows'

Tons of closet space. Good parking. Crappy laundry room. (Some units have W/D hook ups--check your unit before you sign the lease.) No on-site mailbox. Plenty of dumpsters in easy access, yet many tenants litter horribly. Grass is kept short.
