ROBBED AT GUNPOINT!

When I first moved into the apartment complex in Aug. 2004, it was Pelham Woods. Since it's been taken over, there are some MINOR improvements, but still unexceptable! Roaches, and I mean BIG ones, crawl around in my apartment (2nd level), my drain does not empty my shower water, I stand ankle deep in water while I take a shower, and then it takes about 10-15 minutes before the water drains... Last summer I had problems with my air condition. It started at the beginning of the summer and took the maintence staff over a week to fix the problem. I was assured the problem was fixed. A month and a half later, it broke again. After calling, AND CALLING, to report and complain, it took another long (AND HOT) week before they came to fix it. About a month later, again, it stopped working. If you're keeping track, that's three times in one summer. So I called the place again, told them it was the 3rd time, and after about 4 days, they told me they had replaced my old unit and given me a brand new one. This summer, under new management, I had it happen again at the beginning of summer. They responded in 4 days. It was fixed, and I told them the story of last summer. They assured me they would "keep in eye on the problem." 2 months later, my air was broken yet again. This time I had to wait over a week until it was fixed.
Oh and the neighbors - noisy! There's always loud music with a lot of base playing. Whether it's 8:00 at night or 12:00 on a Sunday morning...
The maintance staff is either lazy or EXTREMELY short staffed. The property is always dirty, trash, OLD furniture sitting in yards, and the two bushes located in front of my building door are way overgrown. They were so overgrown that you couldn't walk to the door without pushing away branches. What was the solution' The apartment complex cut HALF of the overgrown bushes. So now the bushes in front of my apartment building are half overgrown and half cut neatly. So I guess they do whatever little they HAVE to do.. otherwise, it won't get done.
I'm moving in less than a month, but it wasn't just about the roaches, the broken air, the maintance staff, or the trashy appearance... What made me terminate my lease early was the fact that I was ROBBED AT GUNPOINT in the apartment complex's parking lot. Yes, that's right, robbed at gunpoint. When I reported it to the office, they acted surprised because they supposidly had police patrol the area. In the two years I lived here, I've seen about 10 cops - and about 8 out of those 10 cops came through during daylight. So you think things would change right' Oh it did for the first week or two... I saw a few more cops, but now that it's been about a month and a half, we're back to square one.
And they jacked up the price to $870! Why pay all that money when you can pay half of that to be robbed at gunpoint somewhere else'!'!

The police are around the end-of-the-month for their quotas - catching the speeders up and down Deanwood Road. But never around ... constant arguing, squealing tires and gunfire on the weekends. Never hear police sirens or a helicopter, hmmm.
