My husband and I were waiting for our house to be built in Montgomery County; we had just relocated from New York and knew some people in Pikesville so we decided to move to Avalon. Avalon is nice but Baltimore County is not what it used to be twenty years ago when I used to visit friends here when I was in high school. I don't know how the area got so run down but the area needs to go through major changes or it is going to go completely downhill. Who is to blame for all of this- the local government, the general public, I don't know but it needs to be cleaned up and reshaped. Potomac, Maryland is incredible compared to Pikesville and years back they were almost the same. I recommend if you have to live in Baltimore, move here but if you not, don't relocate to Baltimore.

I have lived in Pikesville and worked in Montgomery county and I would choose Pikesville over Montgomery county as the preferred place to live. Pikesville senior high school was number 1 in the state and for the inflated prices in Montgomery county (not to mention the gangs) Montgomery county is not worth the money. Recheck the crime rate there and I am sure you will agree.
