I have been lving at St Charles at Olde Court for over 2 yrs. The average BGE bill per apartment ( I have asked several residents) would range from $140-175 per mnth. This is something they do not tell you in the beginning. If you chose to move in an apartment that has not been upgraded, then every last appliance in your apartment will be dated back to at least 1975-79. Which means they are not good on energy at all. I called BGE to ask a good way to keep my energy costs down and I was asked "Does your apartment have Energy wise appliances'" You know my answer to that, SO in turn I called the leasing office and explained this to them, I was told unless something is brokena and can't be fixed then it can't be replaced. When I moved into the place my rent $820, now two years late my rent is $870.00, plus the $160.00 for BGE, go figure. The ip keep of the grounds is excellent, the grass stays cut and the shrubs trimmed. Now, I don't know what's been happening lately, but it seems that a lot of undesirables have moved into the development. Children playing and hanging out in front of building they do not live in. I have children so I know, if you children are outside you need to monitor them. Management have sent out many many many letters about this, but those parents, I guess could careless. I will be moving before my lease is up, to a more modern apartment. My overall experience at St Charles has been pleasant, but for the money you pay (even though cheap for the area) you should at least have appliances made in the 90s.

Okay let me just say, I have been here for almost a year, and my Bge is no more than $95.00. And I have a two bedroom and two full baths. Your Bge bill is based on what you use! So if you don't want it to be high limit your usage! Or get on budget billing. Also it depends on which floor you live on. Before you move into an apartment you should always call BGE and get an average of what the bill was of the previous tenants. And as far as your rent going up, it's called inflation! Rent goes up according to market price every year...duhhh!
