I lived in St. Charles for almost 4 years and have increasingly enjoyed it there. The managemnet continues to make improvements to the complex. I have had no problems with maintenance- in fact when my washing machine broke, the next day i came home to a brand new one. I don't know what other buildings were like, but in mine, i lived with very quiet and respectful neighbors, and about once a month i might hear a radio or a door slam, but otherwise, it was very quiet. they recently installed new windows and doors in my apartment and they are extremely air tight and have kept the bills low! parking was a bit of a problem if you happen to live in the apartments outside the leasing center b/c when people rent the leasing center area for parties, their guests all park in my lot and cause me to have to park on the curb and get a ticket (although if you talk to the security guards about this issue, they will not ticket you.)
Where else can you find apartments in a gated community with alarm systems on each apartment, a fitness center, pool, movie rentals, monthly breakfasts and holiday parties, nice office staff, great maintenance men, large floorplans with a selection of upgrades to fit your budget'
my only qualm was that the area it's in is not that exciting and there is nothing to do within walking distance. but if you work downtown, the metro is 1 mile away and buses stop right outside the front gate.
all in all, the positives far outweighed the negatives in my experience. and don't listen to everyone, b/c regarless of the complex, there are going to be people who loved it and people who have hated it. just listen to me- b/c i am an apartmnent snob and i liked it!
