This is my second time living in Carriage Hill Village over a 12 year period. I lived here back in 1992 and because of that experience decided to move back in 2000. Some things have changed and others have not. If given what I know now, I might have reconsidered. The apts. (to be an older community)are spacious with nice amenities, including full size w/d, gated entry, secure buildings with intercom. For the most part in my area it is quiet, however, last yr. there was an issue with youth waiting till wee hrs. of the A.M. to walk through the courtyard talking and laughing, my guess is under the influence, at the top of their lungs. I have heard distant gunfire some late nights only. There has been a news reported robbery here and a drug bust, of which neither did I know about until after the fact. With all these issues, security patrols have been beefed up at times and I have seen county police here more frequently. Management and admin staff are constantly changing...I can't keep up, however the current mgt. does seem to be trying to implement some changes and get the community involved as well. Do I feel safe allowing my pre-teen/teenage kids to play outside or go to the pool (nice) and tennis courts w/o my supervision, during daylight I might add'...YES, so far no incidents. Have my kids witnessed children their age doing things most parent's wouldn't agree with'...YES! Do mine have the sense to find someplace else to be'...YES! Is the rent reasonable' In my experience, for the location, apt., and amenities...Yes. One just has to decide whether they're geared to deal with the extraneous stuff. For me, I can't beat the commute to my job or the availability to certain facilities, restaruants, shopping, movies, etc. from my location. And despite all the negative, I don't feel unsafe with my family living here like I did in a certain area of the city.
