I left Carriage Hill Apartments in May 2009, when my lease was up. I could not and would not leave myself and my child in that situation. When I moved there in 2006, I should have known all the problems I would face. To get things done with maintenance you have to get a specific person to assist you to make sure it is right. When I first moved there I had a mice problem, To where the mice literally were living in my stove. I had to act like a certified mad woman to get a new stove that was in a box that I witnessed them open. I personally went around and put cement, yes cement to seek and seal my home. I believe that is the only reason why I did not have the mice problem. I witness a young "man" jump up on the second floor balcony and steal a bicycle while I stood there and called 911 and spoke with management they didn't even want to share the information with the tenant. The thugs in the neighborhood, what can I say...I could not leave my son who just turned thirteen in that situation. It's sad to see how Sawyer Management let this property go down even further than it was. As a professional ------- American, I have no problem with a mixed socioeconomic community but come on...you have people (and I use that term loosely) who just don't care, I mean i did not come from money and I know about struggling...put you don't have to live like this. In filth and mice infested area, scared to let your children go to the playground that have been seized by the so-called "thugs" in the community. Afraid that when night falls, to even go to the parking lot because it is infested with teenagers and young adult that mean no good. My car was broken into prior to moving out and I was towed by the "lovely" towing company that after court proceeding had to return my money and compensate me for my time for illegally towing my car... Thats why now when they tow a car they take pictures. OHHHHHHH!!! I could go on these are just the highlights of my stay here and Carriage Hill Apartments. Even when I left, I was not expecting my security deposit back, but being who I am I did not leave the apartment in a shambles. I received a letter from Management stating I would receive my security deposit back, well again i had to fight for it! it took 3 months yes, three months of telephone tag to receive my check. Now I wonder if I was late with my rent would they have extented the same courtesy to me of letting me live there until the got the problem under control.
I am so glad and fortunate to be out the that environment. I wish all who are stuck in CHV luck and I will continue to pray that this management team sees the error of their ways. Remeber if you stand for nothing, you fall for anything.
