Getting worse and worse, and management does not care.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

I am a 24 year old student and have lived here since august of 2005. I moved from connecticut to maryland to attend nursing school. I have lived in many apartments, and this one has by far become the worst. While it appears nice at first, expecially from the outside, the problems that have occured since i have moved in are rediculous. I unfortunately signed a lease after only looking at the model apartment. I was told that the floor plan would be the same as the apartment i would be moving into, with floor length windows. I was also told I would be able to have satellite televison, which was my only requirement since i am an avid red sox fan. To make a long story short, my apartment is in the basement, meaning no floor lenght windows, and I was told after I moved in and has scheduled an appointment that basement apartments could not have satellite TV, as they would not allow the dish to be put in any of the necessary places. My phone broke two days after it was hooked up, and the leasing office said that since there was a dial tone when I moved in, they were not responsible. I was asked to sign a notice AFTER i moved into my apartment stating that there was a possibility of lead paint in the building, but the lady at the leasing office told me that there was no lead paint in the building, it is just policy. However, my walls have many, MANY layers of paing on them and my next door neighbor informed me that the office told here that there was, indeed, lead paint on the premisis that had been painted over many times, so they should be infomed immediatly if the paint starts chipping (mine has been since the day i moved in.) I have had three major leaks in my apartment. Two under the sink, which flooded my kitchen floor and ruined all my things under the sink. The other came from the kitchen ceiling, and leaked through the light in my kitchen. The maintenance people were nice, but solved this problem by punching a hole in the ceiling with their fists, getting plaster all over my kitchen in into some of my food (sugar bowl, all over my can of coffee, etc.) and did a very poor job cleaning up the mess. About two weeks later, i had to ask them to patch up the hole in my ceiling, which they did. Now there is spackle which they did not clean up all over my kitchen floor. Parking used to be attrocious, although they had told me when I moved in there were no reports of any problems. But since everyone has started moving out, its great and there are a ton of empty space. I lived in an apartment complex in CT for two years, which housed a lot of section 8 people and was located in the inner city. I have never had problems like this anywhere i have lived. From the outside, and at first glance, the complex appears neat and well kept. However, after living for 7 months you realize that a fresh coat of paint before you move in, and well kept grounds do not make up for an apartment that is falling apart, dishonest management, and people that don't care if you are living in shambles... or with lead paint. aLKeoXpj3s4OSgrp1trb
