DO NOT MOVE HERE. PLEASE. I AM BEGGING YOU NOT TO DO IT!!!
I lived there from 8/02 until 2/03. I had to break my lease. Things went from bad to worse. It all started with the ROACHES that set up camp about 1 month after living there. I used spray, roach bates, received extermination every week...yet the roaches lived on. A couple of times, the giant cockroaches (palmetto bugs) came into my place.
Then my old radiator heaters did not work for like 3 weeks. I had to wear layers of clothes around the apartment and to bed and have a space heater with me at all times. I had to burn candles, spray air freshner, and get all types of air freshners (plug ins...) to keep the stinch of foreign food and funk out of my apartment. The hallways reeked. The neighbors played their music and tv very loudly all the time. Parking was horrible. I never felt safe. Yet the worst is yet to come.
In December 2003, I found that I had a new roommate, a mouse. I called maintenance and all they gave me was some old, cheap mouse sticky traps. The exterminators came, but all they did was put down professional sticky traps, which were of no help. I bought mice traps and poison. The mouse died from the poison and was on my kitchen floor. I am terrified of mice, so I called emergency maintenance because it was like 7:30am. They told me it was not an emergency and would not come. I had to remove the dead mouse myself, especially because I would not be home again until 9:00pm and didn't want it stinking up my apartment. I removed the mouse and maintenance came and supposedly sealed up all holes, etc. When the first mouse came, I told management that I would not live in a roach infested and mouse infested apartment and if another mouse came, I would move out. Move forward to February 2004. I find that I have another mouse. I go and put in my 30 day notice. This one died in front of me due to mouse poison. It was so gross, the mouse was having convulsions, etc. I tried to remove this one, but it was not quite dead. So I called emergency maintenance again because it was after hours. I was informed again that this was no emergency and that I should get one of my neighbors to remove the mouse. I finally found a neighbor at home, who removed the mouse gladly. She also informed me that she had been living there for about 5 years and that you "just have to get used to the mice." By the time I finally moved, 2 additional mice were killed by the poison. Who knows how many mice really lived in that apartment. All of the mice were very persistent and smart. They never got into the traps, instead they would push them into the middle of the room. Luckily for me, they were stupid enought to eat the poison. It gives me chills even as I think of it 2 years later.
When I moved, they never gave me my deposit money back, but in all honesty, I didn't care. All I wanted was to leave that hell hole. I was not penalized for breaking my lease, but since I was living in substandard conditions, I doubt they could have really expected me to pay extra money.
Those apartments need to be burned to the ground, but the roaches and mice would probably still survive!

This comment is soo funny! But I feel you on that. The apartments themselves, with the spaciousness, less the closet space, were decent for the rent. But I've discovered BEDBUGS, imagine that! They remind me of flat ticks, I'd rather have a tick problem than a bedbug infestation, the slick muthas like to terrorize you in your sleep, cause them mamma jamma's come out at about 3 in the morning. That's why I'm up now at midnight... on FREAKING bedbug watch! Laying UP in my bed armed with a spray can of Bed-Bug-Be-Gone! My child cannot sleep or even visit his room for MY fear of them bioches biting him again. Roaches, I can minimize, even though I don't like them n****s either, but BEDBUGS, somebody needs to pack them mutha effers up and send them back to Mexico!
