Worth it for the location

I have been living in the metro area for about 6 years....with increases in rent, I've moved about every year. Therefore, I'd like to consider myself somewhat of an expert at good ole apartment living. I always feel compelled to write a review since it is common for this site to be skewed towards the negative where people go out of there way to come on here and warn others and vent their complaints. Anywho, here are my thoughts on Avalon.
I live in a two bedroom on the ground floor. It's a good deal for the location. Rockville is very expensive and the amount of rent for the square footage was a jackpot for this area. It's also close to 270 and other key access points to the beltway. There is good shopping close by. Also it is located at a dead end road so there isn't alot of thru traffic. The back of the apartments face woods, then a field, then an old farm...so it is a nice escape from the typical business of most apartments.
Yeah, the walls are thin. But I've never lived in an apartment where the walls were not thin. It's just an expectation one should have when living in an apartment. I think complaints are more about neighbors than about the lack of insulation. And that's not really a fair judgement of the apartment itself.
Maintanence is ok...not great, not poor. They respond quickly and do the best they can. I've had maybe 5 requests this past year and I'd say I was satisfied with about 90% of it. The leasing office staff is competent and accomodating.
The apartments are a bit old but still comfortable. Very big bathrooms and closets. Haven't had a problem with bugs or anything. The back of the apartments face woods...which is nice...but sometimes you get critters such as snakes, foxes, rabbits, etc running in front of your patio.
The only valid negatives I have about this place is parking and trash. If you come home anytime past 8ish, parking is slim pickings. They do have garages that you can rent out (for $150/mos). Parking far away is a pain, especially late at night or if it is raining, etc. However, I don't feel unsafe walking to the apartment late at night. The other complaint would be the trash. There is one central trash location. If your building is far away from that location, then you either have to drive your trash there or take a walk. Not a life or death problem but I found it was a pain in the butt sometimes.
Other than that, Avalon at Decoverly is your standard apartment that leans closer to good than bad. I'd live here again and would recommend it to others. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
