Our year at Avalon at Decoverly has been less than satisfactory. Maintenance has been a joke - they're sure to call you back within 24 hours per their policy of free rent for days gone with no response, but then they don't do anything to fix the problem. When we first moved in, there was a tear in the membrane covering our balcony and a soft spot from the resulting rot in the floor, which we reported on day 1. It has now been over a YEAR and we have submitted four separate work requests for it, with NO result. The soft spot has evolved into a gaping hole.

Craftsmanship of the buildings and the complex landscaping are of poor quality. Counters and floors are not level. There are numerous sidewalks and landscaped areas that don't drain and turn into muddy bogs where mosquitos breed.

The icing on the cake was that an apartment on the level beneath ours was evidently being used for the sale of narcotics. After resident complaints, Avalon's reaction was merely to post an announcement that suspicious activities should be reported to a police hotline. The dealers tore down the announcement in the space of a few hours and continued operating out of the apartment unhindered for several months, until two particularly blatant incidents of throwing fiends out of the apartment made the 'occupants' concerned that they were probably getting too high a profile.

Close to I-270 (a glorified parking lot), but the only access to public transport is a single bus that runs roughly once per hour. Traffic lights in this area are MADDENING - you can sit for five minutes at a time during times of the day when there is NO traffic. Near Rio Center, but it's not convenient walking distance. NOTHING is within convenient walking distance.

Upside is parking, which is adequate and free.
