Managers are terrible

I have lived here for almost four months and my husband is trying to talk me out of breaking our lease only so he doesn't have to move furniture again. Our townhouse is by the entrance and our guests have to walk all the way around the building to get to our front door which is silly and dangerous-the lighting is very bad). There is dog poo everywhere. The paint job is sloppy and the walls and ceiling are cracking as the building settles. You can feel a cold breeze from the windows, doors and electric outlets. We can hear our neighbors thrugh the walls. If you are important enough for the actual manager to talk to you, she will smile kindly at you with mock interest as you bring an issue to her attention while she is obvously thinking about something else (probably more rules to send out on her frequent fliers to my door). And she dresses very unprofesionally. My husband was uncomfortable looking in her general direction at the Christmas party. There is another manager who just wants to quote the rules all the time without listening to your problem and I think her job is to keep us away from the general manager. The maintenance people seem very sweet and helpful but sloppy in their work and the maintenance manager does not seem to get involved at all. We see him driving around in a truck all day smoking smelly cigars. Sometimes the staff walks around in the morning to pick up the trash but it looks like the manager really just wants to walk her puppy. The neighbors say the pet fee was raised and warns that Avalon will try to charge us more even though we have a signed contract. The location is good so if you are a really easygoing person you might be happy here. But if you want the basic necessities like follow through, professionalism, friendliness, quiet nights and extra parking you should consider another apartment place.

I think people write review because they don't like a particular person, the way they dress, or their personal habits. The manager was not smoking in your home, you do not buy the manager's clothes, so why would you commment on them? Why don't people just state the facts and not make personal attacts on people. Have any of you ever run an apartment community? It is very difficult to do and you have to constantly put up with different personalities, demands (some very unfair), and it is a thankless job. You all CHOSE to live here for a reason. Something attracted you to it. You chose to then stay after the grace period where you could have gotten all of your money back if you left. I don't get it!
