I've had better

The office staff are certainly friendly, and the apartments and grounds are, for the most part, pretty nice most of the time. But there are a number of complaints that I have after living here for three years.

1. Despite paying an extra $25/month for a secure building, there are periods when the front door to the building is open more often than not.

2. After paying a $400 amenity fee, they took away the amenity I was most interested in (by turning the indoor basketball court into a volleyball court). This was after refusing to allow non-residents to use the facilities, meaning that I couldn't so much as play basketball in my own complex with my out-of-state daughter.

3. There is some evidence of poor construction in the apartments. For example, water that splashes out of the bathroom sinks runs into the corners, not back into the sink. Also, for such new construction, the water pipes sure are noisy...there is hardly a moment when there isn't some noise coming from them, even in the middle of the night.

4. The rent payment system is atrocious. Paying via their Website has caused me to be charged late fees the last three months because my credit card was declined. The same credit card, all three times, has worked perfectly when I've subsequently made the payment over the phone. They have refused to refund the late fee, and I've been forced to file a complaint with the BBB.

5. My car was towed from the parking lot despite having a parking pass in place. I was not refunded the $140 that I had to pay to retrieve it.

6. It can be quite noisy, depending on where your apartment is. There are a number in Phase II that are along Shady Grove Rd, and while it's a low-traffic portion of that road, it's the main route to the nearby quarry. Therefore, you can hear the jake brakes of passing dump trucks all hours of the day, including the very early morning.

7. The dumpsters are either too small or not serviced often enough. Very often, on a Sunday evening, you can find two dozen or so bags of trash that won't fit sitting on the sidewalk. At times there's so much trash that you can't get past it to the recycling bins nearby. I'd not be happy to be living in one of the apartments next to the dumpster, but the fact is that it looks miserable no matter where you live.

8. The rent has gone up 5% per year for the last two years. Given an inflation rate of 2.7% in the same time period, a declining housing market in the area, and a complex that is only getting older, this seems exorbitant.
