Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
There are things I like about this place and things that drive me nuts. We are not renewing our lease.
Things I liked:
-Very friendly staff that offered decent deals to get you to move in
-The apartment is very nice compared to what we've rented before
-Neighbors are all pretty friendly and come from various backgrounds (students, young families, older families, etc.)
-Amenities like the pool and gym are more than adequate, especially compared to previous "fitness rooms" I've seen that have had a treadmill and a bike in a basement.
-Location is convenient to metro, 270, and Rockville Pike.
-I don't think the noise is as bad as others say it is.
Now the things that drove me nuts:
-They like to tow your car. A guy ran a red light and totaled my car so I had a rental car parked in the lot. They allow towing companies to come in the middle of the night and take cars without the sticker (no matter where you are parked and irregardless of the numerous open spaces available). A few random spots will be reserved, which caused my car to get towed again because they place a small sign on the curb which is very easy to miss, especially at night. When I originally moved in, they told me I can park anywhere but in front of garages but that was clearly not the case. I'm not the only tenant to have their car or a friend's car towed in the middle of the night.
-They don't tell you when packages come. I had a present for my son arrive in July and I did not find out about it until October or November when I ordered something else and noticed that I was never notified of that package arriving. After tracking it online, I discovered the office had had it for a week and they then said "hey look, here's another package..."
-Weekday office hours are inconvenient. Even if I did get a package notice, I wouldn't be able to pick it up until the weekend since they are only available 9am-6pm and I don't know of anyone that's not working/commuting during those times. They did recently expand Thursday hours though...
-Despite having an after hours fob for the gym, they lock you out around 10 or 10:30. I can't figure out why they would do this since it is unattended from 6-10pm anyway. What good is after hours if it's closed after hours'
-Nothing in the business center reliably works. I've seen kids view porn there too.
-Despite my wife's and my recollections, we discovered our lease was written up for three extra weeks that we did not request and didn't notice until discussing moving out (which was very odd because we knew exactly how long we would be staying in the area before we signed the lease). There's an extra grand down the hole...
-Everyone is automatically charged $35/month for "valet waste" but we've never used it and were never even given the "waste basket" to use.
-I still feel like $1500/mo should gotten me a little more than a 2bd apt with just one bathroom...
Very mixed experience but the policies and the above experiences I feel outweigh the good.
