Pros and Cons

There is a lot of good and bad about living here. The location is ideal. There are tons of restaurants and shops right below you. Very convenient to just walk downstairs and go have some drinks with your girlfriend or go for dinner. The apartments are very spacious and it is nice having a covered parking garage. The floors and granite countertops are very nice. It is also nice receiving a discount from the local shops for living in the community. The brand new library outside is also a plus.

The bad: the walls are very thin. I can sit in the bedroom and hear my neighbor as clear as a bell in their apartment. You can hear noise from the hallways and also street noise frequently. The appliances are about the cheapest appliances you can get. They advertise stainless but if you look on the side of the fridge, it is black and the stainless is just tacked onto the front. When I moved in I filled out a list of things that were wrong in the apartment that maintenance would come and fix. Not one thing has been fixed and it has been months. The HVAC unit is also unusually loud and sounds like there is no insulation. There is also no vent in the bathroom so it gets no ventilation in there.

Like the other reviewer mentioned I have also heard of the crime. This does not surprise me as it is very easy to get into the building. The secure garage door stays up long enough to fit 5 or 6 cars through. And while the elevator banks are secure, you can get up the stairs without a key card. So it is very easy for someone to come in the garage by following a car and then walk right up the stairs into the building. The rental office does not have a drop box for rent so unless you can make it there during their office hours (hard to do if you have a job with long hours), you are out of luck.

Overall it is a great place to live, but that is primarily due to the location. The apartments themselves are mediocre and the low-income apartments are even worse. If you move here, move here because you like a city atmosphere right below you. And don't get an apartment facing the street as I did or you'll regret it due to the noise.
