With the problems others have listed here, you would not think it could get worse. Well it can - and it has. Turns out the management, unable to rent out the apartments to normal tenants, has literally turned the place into a dormitory. YES, a college dormitory! As difficult as that is too believe, they have indeed contracted with a company to house college students. It is now literally a college dorm with 2 students to an apartment. Hundreds of students descended upon the place all at once. At first, I was like, how bad can it get - and for a week-or-so not too bad. But now, it grows steadily worse, especially on the weekends. The obvious problems have already started, trash thrown about and noise. If cups of beer lying about and teenagers smoking cigs outside your window at 3 am in the morning is your thing, then this is the place for you.
This just highlights the underlying problem - the management. Every day here is another adventure.

There is a lot to complain about this white elephant of an apartment complex. Something that must be mentioned to anyone considering moving in is this: the Square, which these building are built around, is being used as a concert and event center. It's absolutely ridiculous. Right now I am trying to relax after a long day at work. It's difficult because there is a horrible band playing about 100 feet from my window. I have heard some of the worst music in my life emanating from the Square. Why would you build apartments, where people live and sleep and relax, around an area to be used for concerts, and "kids days'" when the Square is filled with screaming children for hours? This is some of the worst urban planning I've ever encountered. Had we known that the Square would be used as an event center we would never have moved in. It's absolutely absurd - and it is going to last all summer. I can't wait until the weather gets cold and all the kids go back to school - maybe then I can relax.

I recently just moved here and must say I have experienced no such noise problems. To begin, I live directly on the square so I will be the first to hear the noise that people complain about. I'm not sure if other tenants are keeping their windows open constantly, but with ours closed you hardly hear anything. Each persons' experience also affects the situation. For example, I have a bias because I'm coming from D.C., which is a HELL of a lot louder than the "Square" could or will ever be. Unless you're coming from the Antarctic though (or somewhere just as serene), the noise levels on just about on par as anything else you'll find...unless of course you live in a retirement home, but even then the lobbies can get pretty loud and eventful.
Also, for the person who posted this story, can you supplement me with a link about this pact between Fenestra and Universities? I am interested to see which colleges the Apartment has affiliated itself with. It's not that I doubt your story either, I'm honestly just intrigued. However, I am fresh out of college and I have to say that i've seen nothing but 13-14 year olds running about the square. If there is any portion of the populace that is underrepresented here, it is BY FAR, from what I have seen, the college aged group. You have the small children, the pre-teens, and the 28-40 crowds with the occasional senior citizens, but aside from that I have been unable to spot more than 10 people my age.
Regards,
Pat

The noise is bad enough here, I can't imagine living over the town square. That's simply crazy. The worst has to be the units over the Austin Grill - the apartment must vibrate at night. As others have said, it's a problem with management. They're rude and unresponsive - and at times can get combative.
I'd also like to comment on the appliances. They remind me of American cars - lot's of bells and whistles, but with lot's of maintanence problems.
I can concur that Fenestra is contracting out for college interns. A new group, ~100, just moved in. A number of them have made a regular routine of drunkin swimming at 3 am. It's surprising the management does not lock the door to the pool in the evening.
