honestly, it's just okay. the rent is reasonable (as in, EXPENSIVE but comparable to other apartments in the area) as i was given the "special" where i get free rent for 1 month off a year lease or whatever. the parking is nice as the apartments are not highly occupied.
however, the walls are thin and my neighbor just came over to complain about my bass at 9pm, which prompted me to write this. i can hear them move when i'm in the bedroom and the bathroom. i live on the top floor so i can't imagine what it's like for people who have upstairs neighbors. you can hear people in the main hallway if you're sitting in your livingroom, and i suspect they can hear me just as well.
also, the paint they use for the walls is awful. it basically absorbs anything it comes in contact with, and if you brush up against it with a leather chair for example, you will have an ugly black mark that you can't remove. if you try to remove it, paint will rub off instead. who knows what this will deduct from my deposit'
the water heater is ridiculous as i can't take a shower longer than 10 minutes without freezing, and a bath is out of the question. utilities are expensive (water, gas, sewer, and electricity comes out to $250/month on average, which is high for a 1 bedroom).
i don't know much about the management. they were very nice when i signed the lease, and i haven't gone to them for any problems.
overall, i'm torn about renewing my lease. the water heater is what bothers me the most as well as the high cost of utilities. the location is great but in the wintertime it seems that most of the shops/restaurants are dead. there are always kids skateboarding in the back parking lot which you can hear in the dead of the night, and the fire department being across the street can be annoying at odd times in the night. i have a feeling that only certain parts of the building smells of sewer as i haven't noticed that problem.
the "exit" signs on my floor that hang from the ceiling often go missing. no idea why people who live here want their floor to look cheap.
overall, it's upscale on the outside. not so much on the inside. i've lived in better places for cheaper rent.
