Very Happy Here

My husband and I are very happy here. The kitchen has all the appliances we wanted, and the big open pass-through means I can cook and still interact with people in the living/dining area. (The only down-side - not a lot of cabinet space. There is room, though, to bring in a baker's rack or small butcher's block island to make extra storage.) The in-unit washer/dryer is stacked and fairly small, but still, it's a washer/dryer in the apartment, not down the hall or in another building, like a lot of places around here. The master bedroom was so huge that when we really thought about it, it made more sense to turn it into a library/office - two desks, my piano keyboard, three full-size bookshelves, and a futon - and still plenty of room to move around! There are not many closets, but the one off the master bedroom is *huge.* The deck is very roomy and solid. The complex is not huge, and you're going to see another building no matter where you are, but they're not smashed together. Our immediate view looks over the grassy central area and the walking path through the middle. Most of the grounds feature large-ish trees, so it is much prettier when there are leaves on the trees. Maintenance seems to be quite responsive. The building is a little older than some apartments in the area, but it's very well-maintained. I think the studs in the walls are metal - we found that out when we tried to hang up a painting in the livingroom! Most recently they brought in contractors to repaint the entire place. (It's sort of a warm tan-colored concrete/stucco outside.) We're on the top floor, so I couldn't say whether or not it's noisy to have upstairs neighbors. I don't hear anything from downstairs and hardly ever hear anyone on either side. The other residents seem friendly but sort of keep to themselves. Of course, you're still city livin', but the neighborhood feels very, very safe. Being able to walk to shops and the metro (red line) was super-important to us! We are close to groceries, cafes, even Target. But we also didn't want to give up our car. There is plenty of parking for residents and enough extra parking that our guests have never had any problems. The tennis courts could use some maintenance, and the pool hours are fairly limited, but that's also because they have lifeguards on duty whenever it's open. The rental office staff have been just great. They know the residents by name and have been quick to help us with all our questions - even recommending local pizza places...! I really would recommend this place to anyone.
