I moved in to this apartment from out of state with my family 1 1/2 months back. I never saw the APT and did the leasing over the phone, huge mistake! I was promised a move in date and later the management said they require an additional week to get the APT ready. The first thing I noticed while moving in was that floors were really bad and even when you try to walk slowly you could hear the floor squeak very badly. I knew very well the APT was old but I never imagined it would be this BAD. After I moved in, I found a lot of things that were left as is by the contractors, had issues with the fridge, flooring, washer and drier etc, which they fixed eventually. They never cleaned up the W/D area which had years of dust and rust even after repeated complains. Being a tolerable person and commending myself that I signed 1 year lease, I though we will hold on for a year and move out. That was just the beginning. 2 days after the move in the lady living downstairs came up and asked my wife that we should try to tippy-toe!!! My wife apologized to the lady and promised to more considerate. I learned about this when I came back from work and advised my elder kid to walk slowly since we always lived on the lower level and she was not used to living on the 1st floor. 2 weeks passed without any incident and the lady downstairs appeared again around 8:00 PM and said she heard a very loud noise and asked us to be considerate. I was around this time and explained that the floors are bad and my 8 month old was just learning to walk/crawl and I was playing with her around that time. She said she had been living in the apt for over 7 years and never had such an experience with any of the previous tenants. My wife was at wits end this time around and that was end of our nice little family time. We always hear people upstairs making noise but never bothered to complain. They occasionally make loud noise over the weekend and usually quite down around 11 pm during weekdays. Yesterday night (10/03) was the worst of all which eventually prompted me writing this review. My wife and kid went to sleep around 11 PM and I was watching TV in the living area. Little past midnight I heard a very loud bang on the door and was literally shaken by the sound, it was the lady downstairs! She started complaining that we were making loud noise. With my wife and kids asleep in room I was not sure what sound she was referring to or what the hell was going on. I tried to explain that to her that and she just wouldn't listen. I asked her to come in and take a look for herself to prove that we were not making any noise and she wouldn't come in and insisted to stop making noise. My wife and younger kid came out of the room that time and my wife said the people upstairs were making loud noise and while she was trying to get some sleep out of this the lady downstairs started to the hit the floor from below and woke my younger one. The lady downsts was not buying this and said she shouldn't be hearing noise made from people at 3rd floor and it was our fault and 3rd floor folks were "nice people". That was end of the straw and I lost my temper and slammed the door. Calmed down a bot and went upstairs to let the folks above know about the noise and about my the altercation with the lady downsts. They said they were working on something (at midnight!) and they were almost done! Asked them to explain whatever they were doing to the lady downsts as she was unjustly mad at us. Couldn't sleep the whole night, folks upstairs continued with their project till 2:00 AM. I'm stuck here with a lousy neighbors for another 10 months.

I can easily see how the person who wrote this review ended up in this awful situation. I live at Randolph Square and can attest to the fact that the floors squeak no matter how softly you try to walk on them. These are not even bare wood floors - they are carpeted and they squeak horribly. We hear our neighbor above walking around occasionally, but it is not a big deal - we quickly got used to it and can now sleep through her footsteps. (The only people bothered by the footsteps from above are visitors to our apartment.) Thank God our neighbors below have never complained about our footsteps. We have been fortunate to have understanding and easy-going neighbors below us, above us and next to us.
