I moved in to VSW to a clean apartment, a friendly staff with high hopes after reading poor reviews on this page assuming it was full of bitter renters that probably had anotehr side to the story where they were at fault for their problems. Not the case. The older buildings at VSW need alot of upkeep, but alot I mean they about 5 times in one year had to tear open the ceiling of my apartment for a few days at a time while their slow-to-finish maintenance worked on assorted leaks, broken HVAC untit, etc. You usually wait a week or two for a response to a service request, even when you say "There is about a three foot wet spot on my ceiling, thats turning black and dripping" When finished, they left paint splatters everywhere and drywall dust coating every thing in the entire place. One repair was an almost 4 week proceess, with nothing more than a sorry from the maintenance guy. I put up with it for a year, until my lease was up and gave my notice asap. Oddly, Trish, as mentioned in almost everyone elses post, "didnt get my notice letter" nor did she get my 5 voicemails or the email I had one of her staffers send her while I watched, when all I was trying to do was to find out what i needed to do before moving out. I resorted to speaking with her assistant manager, who i asked if i should steam clean the carpets, and he said dont worry about it we just replace them bewteen residents. So i left the apartment sparkling clean, spending two days working on it. I never hear from Trisha until AFTER i had already handed in my keys, and she lets me know that I had "left the apartment a mess, stuff everywhere and the carpets needed to be replaced" and that I owed them for that. So I tell her I was trying to talk to her for weeks to square away the move out process (mind you we are 5 minutes into a phone conversation) and she says "Hey, Ive listened to you talk here for 20 minutes now, I dont have time for this" Nice, right' So after a useless follow up with their corporate office, they tell me that she has been there for 14 years and they arent going to intervene in anyway I just gave up and told them to keep my deposit and basically go @#*! themselves. I did everything in my power to be a responsible adult and move out and smoothly as possible, but they take your notice to move, even when your lease us up as a declaration of war apparently.

Ok.... I am living at this community for about two years; now since every while i guess that problems happen in an apartment complex, especially if it is a mature one (which this commnuty is not that bad because mostly all the apartments inside are remodel and everything is brand new); unless someone is thinking to live in an apartment and do not have that type of problems, then you really should apply for a condo or move in a brand new community where, in rockville can cost you up to a $2000 per month. I was really impressed with some reviews here, because is the first time that I enter and I never though that some people will have these type of opinion about this community. I really love it here, i like the apartment inside,the fact that everything is new so you don't have "bug" problems,the safe community
and area, I never had any problem with the manager, I have a son so he enjoys the playgrounds and the pool, and I love the location; if I will ever move out from here it will be only because i'll buy a house, but other than that I am happy with the decision that I made. One time I wanted to paint my all aparment of a different color and I wanted the "contractor" that does all the job to do it, and my intention was paying him for his job, but from what the office explained me, any paint problems or leaks is the contractor that does the job not the maintenance guys, so because he's really busy it doesn't depend from them if he cames or not that's why all the works are scheduled at the end of the month, because that's the time frame that he is supposed to be there and if something happen to you the first days of the month you should wait through the end (I mean they will tray to send it to your apartment, but is not guarantee)of the month. I am really sorry for waht happen to this peson, but I just want to let you know reader) that you'have to look at this community and then decide whether to move in or not, it is worth it I work at Shady Grove Hospital, and I recommned it to all my co-workers. So take a look at the apartments , the community, the staff because it seems a really difeerent world than what it is described by some reviews.
