The worst experience I ever had renting an apartment was with Parkwood. When I was relocating to Salisbury from Florida I had to do everything long distance. I was lied to from the beginning. I spoke to Kay over the telephone many times. I was assured that the apartments were very quiet and very clean. I was told there was a nice apartment overlooking a courtyard that was available. Kay also told me to insure that I had this nice, quiet apartment when I had to move from Florida I got an apartment 2 months before I had to move and pay rent for the 2 months that I was not there. I called on the day that I was due to arrive in Maryland to double check on everything. I was told then that the office closed at 6 and I had to be there by then or I would not be able to pick up keys to access the apartment. They refused to let anyone else pick up the keys to the apartment I had been paying rent on for 2 months already. I rushed to make it there on time so I did not have to spend the night in the moving truck. When I got there I found the "nice, quiet apartment overlooking a courtyard" really overlooked the intersection of Beaglin Park Drive and Schumaker Drive and my view was of the firehouse. Needless to say it was not a quiet apartment because at least 3 times a day the firehouse's alarm blared. Many times at night I was woken up by the firehouse alarm. The apartment was also not clean at all. The carpets were horribly stained and even worse there was black mold all around the windows. No one in the office would help me. The manager was extremely rude and nasty. She told me I had signed a lease and that I couldn't prove that I was ever told that the apartment was quiet and overlooked an intersection. She told me if I wanted to move I would have to terminate my lease and pay the $1,600 termination fee plus a month of rent. Every experience I had with Parkwood was negative and I would not recommend them or Rinnier Management to anyone. I would recommend that you pay more and get a nice apartment from Marley Manor.
