Great Place to Call Home and Great Place to Come Home To!

My family actually moved here from another local property in Laurel nine years ago and I must say, it was the best move we ever made for ourselves and our children. When we went to sign the lease, the first thing we were given the opportunity to do was take the keys and thoroughly inspect the home before signing the lease. My wife and I were amazed since we had never been given this chance. In talking to my other neighbors they also indicated this was a pleasant surprise to them as well. We found new carpet, an exceptional cleaning job, all new curtains, and little details such as the lack of any paint whatsoever on outlet plates or switches. This was something we had suffered with in our previous two rentals.
In addition, the office staff was friendly, professional, concerned and committed to our satisfaction. The manager even followed up with us after the first week. They were helpful in removing bulk trash we had left over from the move and even came in and did touch-up painting from where we messed up the walls. SInce that time, the manager has remained professional, upbeat, helpful and commited to us and our needs. We have not experinced this in our other rentals, it was move-in, cut and dried and service was done.
The ability to come home to a quiet, secluded, though older community far ouweighed the aggravation and frustration we dealt with at the newer community when we had a simple maintenance request. The maintenance staff is ok and the management is commited to same day service - this has been a given ever since we have lived here.
Sometimes, I wonder what people expect when all they do is ----- and moan but do not take the opportunity to simply ask - the staff is one of the most cooperative and caring and they are the reaosn we have stayed so long - my children have all graduated and we choose to stay - not because we have to but, because we want to.
As far as the trailer park references go - no it is not the brand new luxury $2200 community at the end of Lincoln Street - but, it is a community and you see that and experience that each and every day! If you are not happy - move on - there are plenty of people looking for comfortable community housing where people care!
Also, you would be amazed at all of the children from Basford's Retreat who come up to "our community": to play with my children and be at the playground. They even know it is a safe place to hang out and have a good time.
And by the way, we just renewed for the tenth year and were offered a repaint without asking!!!
