What is wrong with the Alexander House' Let me count the ways...
1. The Management staff is rarely available to speak with and they do not return phone messages.
2. Maintenance requests are attended to EXTREMELY SLOWLY. Even emergencies! On one occasion, my kitchen sink began to overflow with murky water like something out of a low budget horror flick. I had to scoop the offensive muck with my own bucket until maintenance arrived hours later. The plumbing problem was not fixed for days, and meanwhile the overflow seeped into my carpet.
3. Safety of residents has been compromised: the automatic door to the Alexander House parking garage has been broken for several months. This door remains open at all times. There has already been one report of vandalism. Also, since only one of the entrances is open, incoming and outgoing cars share the same entrance/exit and head on collisions are a threat to all residents who park in the garage. Also, the 'secure' doors to the elevator hall on each parking level are consistently broken every few months and often remain that way for periods of a month or more. When these doors are not working, it is not necessary for anyone to show their security card before entry. By this method, anyone can secure entrance to the building.
4. Overall maintenance of the building is unreliable. The hallways are not airconditioned. The windows of the building have been washed only once in the last 3 years. The maintenance staff is kind and tries to be helpful, but they are overworked and do not have the manpower to address the needs of all residents. I don't think that there are more than two people on call for the whole building.
