hello there! i've been looking for a place to finally review this apartment complex; for i've written several letters to the rental office and have made several complaints to montgomery housing - still, no response... :(

i moved to the alexander house in 2000. during that time, the building was highly maintained, security was always available, and whenever a problem persisted in my apartment (even on a sunday), maintenance would respond within an hour or by the end of the day.

unfortunately new management took over towards the end of 2001 or the beginning of 2002 in which most of the previous staff were let go. there used to be a time when i would always see a maintenance person either in the elevator or in the hallway, but all of that has changed. for the past 3 months, the light bulb in one of the elevators has not been replaced, the carpet in the hallways and some of the elevators are left torn, and when putting in a work order for a problem in your apartment, it now takes maintenance up to a week or two to respond. there was even a flood one time and the rental office took their time contacting maintenance.

when the previous management team were here, they returned phone calls promptly, maintenance responded in a timely fashion (even on sundays), and the building was kept up to par at all times.

i have been very disappointed with the upkeep of this building over the past year. i am glad to know that there are review boards such as this to provide others who are interested in moving here what's really going on. don't be fooled by the staff. "yes, they are very professional, but it's not enough of them to assist in maintaining this building." my lease is almost over after a dreadful one year (the first year- wonderful), and onto someplace else i will go. there is no way i'd pay the money the alexander house is now charging for a 1 or 2 bedroom. my quote: "the grass is not always greener on the other side." the building looks nice from the outside, parking is convenient, the buidling's in a great location, BUT the problems persists once you move in. good luck...
