A Nice Place to Live, in my book...

My friends are quite fond of coming to visit me in this complex, saying it is like a mini city.
And it truly is.
I rented a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit on the 14th floor with some roomates from 2004 - 2005. I loved our end unit, which was quite spacious and pretty quiet. I never really interacted with the office staff, until one of my roommates decided he wanted to bail on the rent. The old managment was quite helpful in helping me secure a studio in the building (under the NPDU program - which basically is for broke young professionals, one of 3 programs our building has) and allowing me to live there.
I currently live in a studio on the 16th floor.
Our building is mixed - we house Section 8 families, Disabled people and veterans, and the NPDU program - so it means at any given moment you can run into all types of people from all walks of life.
I have never had a problem with anyone in the building, staff or resident - most people are quite respectful, and respond well to politeness.
It is a bit difficult to reach the new rental office because their phone system is completely automated.
I noticed a lot of people neglected to mention the main reason I elected to live here: access. I do not own a vehicle, and Alexander House is close to everything - metro lines, ride on lines, 2 grocery stores, 3 24 hour convenience stores, shops, restaurants, movie theatres, etc...
Also, compared to some of the other apartments in this area (I'm looking at you Blair Towers!) rent has stayed very close to the prices BEFORE Silver Spring became Silver Sprung. Even if I was paying full market rate for my studio (which I think is $979) it is still under the $1100 average I saw in other apartment.
I have recommended this complex to three of my friends, and 1 couple did actually move here.
Side note: I notice that many of the people who have complaints about noise/maintainence, etc reside on the lower floors. I do not know why that is, because I've always lived up a lot higher, but I remember getting a choice of what floor to live on.
