Not bad

I moved in here in the beginning of September. I got what I expected and my apartment seemed great. In addition, it was the best rent I found for the proximity to the metro/downtown for the type of apartment I was getting.
Nothing I really have to complain about would be the fault of the building. Any building will have people who stack too much in the recycling bins. The gym is small, but I haven't used it. If you're looking for a first-class gym experience, this won't be it. But LA Fitness is right down the street anyway. I LOVE having a washer and dryer in the apartment. The washer is a little small, dryer not the best I've ever used, but it's right there and I don't have to save quarters all week.
My roommate and I have only had one maintenance issue since we arrived and it was taken care of promptly, above and beyond our expectations. Her tub was leaking into her closet. They came that night and repaired it and then replaced the drywall and the carpeting in her closet.
The freight elevator is kinda sketchy, but I only used it when I moved it (it doesn't operate otherwise), so that's not an issue. I like that there is someone at the desk 24/7.
Noise hasn't been an issue, but I don't live on the side that the metro is on. I have a friend who does, but with the windows shut, it's not enough to wake you up. If you're a light sleeper, I guess ask to be shown what side of the building your apartment is on. In the building noise isn't anything too bad either. I think the only things I ever hear are the sounds the pipes make when someone else turns the water on or off.
I feel safe in the building and in the surrounding areas. People are basically friendly or they stay out of your way. I rarely use my car these days cause it's so close to everything.
Parking at the building is expensive (I think $110') but it's a little cheaper right across the street.
If they allowed pets, I would probably stay here a while. As it is, I hope to stay in the building for another 12 month lease at least.
