It's a beautiful building but the staff sucks. Do not use Karind as your leasing agent if you can help it. You will think you are all set to move in and then have surprises the day before and the day of moving.
Now, on to Ms. Angela Bousa. She is the property manager in the building. Letters will be slipped under your door sometime after 5 PM. That's when she goes home and lord knows she doesn't actually want to talk to you. She leaves no contact information on the letter. Sometimes letters have been put under my door as late as 3 AM. When they are coming in the same days starting at nine. That certainly does not sound like the 24 hours legally required of them as per my lease. These letters sometimes contain a to-do list, stating you must move things away from an area, therefore you need to be sure to wake up an hour early. The letters take a threatening tone. But the power trip does not stop there.
The first time my unit was "inspected" I thought I had been robbed. It was like someone went rifling through my apartment. I'm sure my clothes and cereal and personal papers are irresistibly interesting. These letters also state that work will be done one day but it is not actually performed until weeks or months later. These letters will contain helpful tips like, "If the smell is bothersome, open your windows." This letter was for work in February.
The maintenance done is cheap and messy. As in they left things behind and didn't clean up after drilling. The solutions they use aren't lasting so the problems will just continue.
The vents will always allow you to smell what your neighbor is cooking and/or smoking. The second floor smells like diapers.
Last I knew, they were offering a $300 referral bonus. That should tell you something. $300,000 is not enough to recommend someone else live here.

Hi, I was all set to move this past Friday. The staff is a joke. I drove from four states away and was impressed with the building/proximity to D.C. Staff told me that I could move in at only $99 - they were having a "manager's special" and no payment would be due until August (that's two months free). NOT TRUE. I told Angela and she fiercely defended the dumb ----- of the office who specifically told me there would be no payments until August. Now, I am being told that I am actually required to send in a full months rent in addition to the $99 I gave them. I found out the $99 was for a credit check.
Obviously, I asked for my money back and I am seriously HAPPY I did not move out of my home only to be surprised by the stupid ----- who work at Alexander House including Angela. I got the distinct feeling of a snobbery which is really difficult to justify. I THANK GOD I DIDN'T MOVE HERE!!! (Thank you, Jesus)

I think you got the special all wrong. I just moved in with that special $99 security deposit WITH APPROVED CREDIT, and my rent is free until August like I was told. Yours was probably 1 month because your credit sucks......

hahahahahahahahaah
seriously though people, all apt life sux! specially considering you are in Silver Spring, Md. This place is a dump filled with the trash of the DC Metro area...Dirty, stinky, loud, disrespectful people who are a waste of space occupy this downtown area, and I cannot personally recommend a single apt bldg that allows one to escape that, no matter how glitzy and upscale it tries to come off as.
GET OUT OF SILVER SPRING...its SHI%
