I came across this apartment on the internet and thought that the interior shots looked nice-a little over 1000 sq. feet for about 1000 bucks a month was not bad. I even visited the property and thought "alright a basketball court/small park right across the street with lots of trees, it looks OK!". However I soon came to realize that this was a TERRIBLE apartment complex. First of all, the first property management group that was there did not show me the property I would be living in, just an example apartment. When I actually went into my apartment for the first time there were many things out of order/pigeon crap all over the patio and screens (I eventually just took the screens off), bathrooms were missing lights, the showers did NOT work and the kitchen sink leaked something awful. The kicker was the BED BUGS that terrorized me and my girlfriend every night, I went to complain to management no less than 6 times, each time they said they would take care of it and each time they did NOT. This lasted for about 4-5 months, I would wake up covered in bites on my face hands body, everywhere. I finally wrote a letter to the corporate headquarters and regional headquarters complaining about the utter lack of compassion on the part of management. It also took them about 1-2 months to fix my showers and when I wanted to replace the disintigrated lock on my flimsy front door I decided to fix it myself and was not reimbursed the 5 bucks it took to fix it after I asked them (oh by the way I ended up fixing my shower myself too). After I wrote the letter to the corporate office the manager finally took me seriously, he promised that I would not have to pay rent for the previous month just to say "sorry". So of course I took Ben at his word and low and behold I got one of those late payment/aspen crossing is gonna sue you sucka notes in the mail. When I went to go find out what the hell happend I learned that the whole management team was fired. The new management team seems to be more on top of things but I doubt they can fix the behaviors of the renters in the complex. I feel VERY unsafe for myself and my girlfriend, I remember one time some drunk crackhead asked her to come back to his apartment when she was waiting for me to pick her up and tried to grab her, then I drove up and scared him away-i told her from that point if i ever pick you up do not wait in the parking lot just stay inside! I can often smell marijuana coming from the different apartments as i walk up to my floor and just think that living here is crazy. The management hired a private security firm (much to the dissapointment to many of the tenents) that just sits in the parking lot playing solitare on his laptop, doesn't make me feel any safer (I have their number on speed dial by the way). The police are here all the time which makes me feel that at least they're taking care of the bad guys in the complex, but they are here so often I am often worried that there's going to be another shooting or something (check the police logs for the area, there's muggings, breakins and stuff). I can remember one time in the summer that my girlfriend and I were driving to some restuarant and there was some gang chilling in the parking lot where we tried to drive past. They wouldn't move out of the way and they started shouting at us and wouldn't move, it was really scary!! Like the other postings state, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything including the shouting and cussing that come from the thugs in the parking lot, I definetly feel sorry for the parents trying to raise their kids in this environment. The other week we got a notice from management that we need to pay our rent on time and that if we don't we will be thrown out (which I agree with)-apparently some people haven't paid their rent since DECEMBER, how many deadbeats does it take not paying rent for the management to send out a notice like that' On a positive note however there are some tenents that are really nice and that are just as concerned and upset as me, those few people are cool. Well, I feel a lot better now that I have my opinion out there, I hope Aspen Crossing steps it up big time, they really need to if they want to run a successful business and they need to take care of the cockroaches in my apartment building now or its time for another letter. Overall I HATE it here and would STRONGLY suggest you go to one of the other apartments in the area like northgate or the one on postgate terrace that offers a free tv when you move in, I think I'm going to take my business over there...
