I wouldn't do it again

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
My fiance and I have lived at this community for just about a year. When we first moved in, we chose this community because of ample parking, neat appearance (I loved the trees...), and very nice looking apartments. Donna was the property manager at that time and while we had several maintenance concerns (water heater when we first moved in, AC problems later....) as long as we escalated them to Donna, things got done.
Then, Donna left and a different property manager started. From the get-go, the new management has been a complete pain to deal with. It was no longer helpful to escalate complaints to the level of management because all that we got in return was attitude. Instead, it became necessary to keep the corporate office on speed-dial. Crime has increased, there have been several property vandalisms since we have lived here (including apparent fires in the drop box and gym area.) Almost the entire office staff has turned over since management. Now it is always a royal pain to get things accomplished.
The hot tub is never available because its only open during office hours (really the only amenity that we may miss), and the office never seems to be open during the posted hours. We have had some major noise problems, but those have actually, for the most part, resolved themselves (a good thing since I don't think management ever did a thing about it.) People are moving out right and left.
When it was time to renew our lease, it was a comedy of errors--except not nearly as funny. The office is very poor with communicating, and certainly never goes the extra mile. If you call with a question or concern, they may say that they'll call you back, but they never will. Now, apparently, management is going to try parking stickers (never mind that there are no towing signs in sight.)
Overall, I think the best summation of our residency here at Aston Woods is that the main issues are management. Really we were very happy with the place until management and communication by them went downhill. There are some crime concerns as well (there were several break-ins just last month, and, again, management won't even upgrade to more sturdy locks....) The maintenance people are, generally, very nice and Allen, the maintenance supervisor, has always been helpful and competent, but the leasing office is just awful.
It was fairly nice when we moved here. But as the property is now, I wouldn't think of moving in. It is just miserable having to jump through hoops to get things handled by the office. It shouldn't be necessary to call the Regional Manager to get things done.
