The Best in Downtown in Silver Spring

Living at the Bennington far surpasses any other living experiences I have had in any other surrounding downtown Silver Spring communities. The amenities and services are everything you'd expect out of a luxury apartment building. And contrarily to what some of the reviewers have suggested, the Management goes out of its way to treat you like royalty and accommodate your every need.
To show their appreciation to their residents, they'll offer free breakfasts/dinners every once in a while and regularly organize fun holiday/theme parties throughout the year. Those parties are just not your cookies and soda type of affairs. No, when they mean party, they mean business. They'll go all out decorating the whole lounge up, giving away party favors (and even a small gift at Christmastime), providing delicious catered food and free drinks (yes, that includes alcohol!) Recently we had a barbeque party where they also hired a DJ to entertain us out on the courtyard while we stuffed ourselves with hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy, popcorn and drank frozen strawberry daiquiris and beer to our heart's content. I have never lived anywhere where I've been treated this good by an apartment building!
While I can think of a couple of staff members who do act a bit snooty, the majority of the Bennington staff has always been extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. I'm a bit of the grumpy type, yet whenever I pass the front desk, my cold, frozen heart can't help but melt into a smile. Some of the front desk ladies are just too sweet and too ready to assist.
The other reviewers have mentioned all of the other pros and cons of the Bennington. My biggest gripe about living at the Bennington is the train noise (and it looks like it's everyone else's as well). But I keep my windows mostly closed and sleep with earplugs so it doesn't bother me (and my kitties) nearly as much anymore. As for parking, it is indeed outrageously priced, but since I don't have a car and the Bennington is within walking distance of the metro, so it's not a problem. I do hate the fact that if my visitors want to come to my apartment for more than 15 minutes, they have to park in the public parking, which is only free on the weekends and after 7 pm, though.
Bottom line is, no place is absolutely perfect. In the end you have to think about what your situation is and decide what's more important to you. In my case, it's living in very comfortable, clean and beautiful digs (with superior services/amenities) and being well treated by the staff.
