Some comments here beggar belief. People want the convenience of the Metro, but not the noise of the trains; they want to live in a high-rise building but don't want to hear another neighbour; they want light & sunny but only for certain parts of the day (Is God listening''). GET REAL. If you choose what is a really nice building in a 'developing' part of town, near the Metro, of course you are going to get construction/train noise - and sun on the southern side. The former will cease at some point. Unlike one reviewer here, I have rarely had the A/C on and rather enjoy the sounds of life going on outside with the balcony door and bedroom window ajar. The trains can be noisy, yes, but I've never been kept awake with the window open (however, I previously lived under the Heathrow flight path in London, so I may be immune to such things).
On the very odd occasion one can hear another neighbour's booming stereo if it's turned up too loud, but hey, I have a grand piano (not yet had any complaint)! This is an apartment building, not a detached residence: reality. Fact is, this building is well-constructed and sound-proofed with spacious apartments, well-maintained public areas, very courteous, helpful and cheerful staff/concierge, well-lit and maintained parking, 3 excellent and efficient elevators and a brand new POMEGRANATE cafe situated on the 1st floor. Silver Spring Metro is within crawling distance and the SS downtown area is great. I generally cycle to work from here (into DC) but always look forward to coming home here. Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it. You'll pay the same elsewhere for a dubious designation of 'luxury'.

I have lived at the Bennington for two years and have had no major issues. The leasing office is mostly competent although at times Patrice Perrier tends to sound too busy to help residents who are calling or who stop by for assistance. On a few occasions I asked her a question and instead of finding out the answer because she did not know, she brushed me off with general answer that did not help at all. The building has a low income housing program so there are a lot of Hood rats and ghetto people in the building but for the most part you do not see them unless you are in the elevator. The ammenities are okay. There is no pool, the fitness center is nice but the computer room has computers that dont work and never any paper in the printer or fax machine. The hoodrats tend to steal the free paper when it is there which i have witnessed first hand on 4 different occassions. The hallways have a stench of ethnic food but for the most part, once you are in your apartment it does not affect you. Because i leave at the crack of dawn for work and do not come back until late at night, i don't really use the ammenities or socialize with the residents and hood rats so it doesn't really bother me. No issues with the front desk attendant or maintenance. Great building if you are not concerned with who lives there. The parking is okay but the spaces are extra small and my car has been hit twice. There is also no proper security in the garage and my gps was stolen. There is no security in the building except for the cameras which the frotn desk attendant don't really pay attention to. Overall, every building has its pro's and cons and this building is better then other places i have seen.
