I visited this place a couple weeks ago to look for a place to live.
My SO and I walked in about 30 minutes until closing. The leasing agents were super nice, and although they said they couldn't show us an apartment that close to closing, they gave us a lot of information about the rentals and prices. This was helpful. I do have to wonder, though, why they couldn't just show us one unit while we were there. I guess they don't care about commissions'
They offered a special with 2 months free and 6 months of free/reduced price (I can't remember) parking. However, the units were still just too pricey for us. Maybe if we just wanted a small 1 bedroom, it would have been OK, but there was a big jump in price from 1 bedroom, to a 2 bed-1 bath, etc. In terms of size and amenities, you can find better in the area.
No pool, either, which I would expect from a nice looking place like this. The leasing agent, when showing us the available units said something like, "Well, I don't know how you guys feel about trains." Uh, does anyone like living near constant noise'
They do have good punch in the lobby, though!

Apparently you do not have a job, or know anything about policies, etc. To start off, the office closes in 30 minutes but that doesnt mean you get OFF in 30 mins. If they let YOU see an apt 30 before closing they need to show ANYONE that comes in which can be a HUGE inconvience considering thet people have lives too ad need to get off of work to go to class, get their children, go to a soccer game, make dinner, etc.
Oh I do NOT work here but I am a leasing agent in the same area. To show you an apt I that would consist ofgetting info from you, going to the maint dept to get a key, drive over, show you around for 15 minutes, drive back to the maint dept to drop off the key, go back to thhe office to give you your license back, finishing doing what they were doing, do close up procedues, and FINALLY get to go home 45 minutes late.
All becuase you couldnt see an apt doing "normally schedules hours"
Get real. I hope people do that to you at your job.
Oh and by the way...comissions on apt are not like comissions like car buying...its mostly like 25-45 a lease and ONLY after you move in...many do not move in...

I thought the ladies in the office handled the situation very nicely and were kind about explaining the hours. They gave us a lot of helpful information. My comment was nothing against them.
However, I think the posted hours were misleading however, and if the office as a team doesn't want to show units past 4:30 or 4pm, they should say they are open until 4:30, not 5pm. At my job (YES, I do have one, why would I even consider living at the Bennington if I didn't? Cause it certainly is not cheap!), we tell people the latest time we are open is well before we actually close, so we have time to finish up before we want to go home.
This apartment is in the same building as the leasing office so there is no "driving around" as you say to pick up a key. If it would have taken 15 minutes, us coming in 30 minutes before closing would not be an issue in my opinion. Many businesses - most stores and restaurants for example, post closing hours that are different from their actual closing time.
But, I do understand that people have to go home on time. I just think they could adjust their posted hours to reflect their actual practices.
However, there were other things that I did not like about the place - the value, in particular, that warranted the rating I gave the location.
I certainly don't think my opinion on the matter warrants such a personal attack. I hope you don't work at any apartment I would be interested in viewing!
