Fairly new resident, but so far it is okay.

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I've only been at FC about 6 weeks, but so far it is okay. I had a problem right after I moved in with getting a parking permit for my car because I had temporary plates. My car was towed once, but the apartment manager got the fee waved for me. The neighbors seem friendly enough, if not particularly outgoing. Parking is adequate. I can always find a space, though it isn't always very close to my building. Lighting is okay in the front lot, but the lot behind my building where I often end up parking is not particularly well let. A well-worn path around the end of the building could be paved and better lighted (one additional light would probably do it), to make this lot more useable.
I rarely hear my neighbors or other dogs in my building when in my apartment. I am on the top floor, so I don't have noise from above. My dog is relatively quiet, but others bark when we go up and down the stairs. It is loud in the stairwell, but as I said doesn't seem to be a problem in the apartment.
The outside of the buildings are attractive, though a few shutters appear broken or missing around the complex. The grass seems to be mowed weekly, which is adequate. There are some problems with dog owners not picking up after there animals, but that is not the fault of the community. Flowers and bushes are minimal except near the leasing office. The inside stairwell in my building seems well kept and fairly clean. My mail slot, though difficult to get mail out of (especially magazines) functions properly, but I noticed one of the other ones for my building (9 units) is broken and has been since I moved in.
The apartment community feels safe, I routinely walk my dog in the evenings. No large bushes or trees provide hiding places and the layout is fairly open, making it easy to see people from a distance. Lighting is not extreme, but is sufficient.
The building is old. Because of that, it has some problems you would expect. Drywall is heaving slightly or cracked (though not broken) in places. The floors (beautiful hardwood) are squeaky. The windows, which do not appear to be original do not seal well and one in my apartment does not close properly. I was given all new appliances when I moved in, so I've had no problems with those. The layers and layers of paint diminish what appears to have been beautiful molding around the window frames and doors. It's unfortunate. Painters have worked sloppily and paint is on the top of cabinets, shower tiles, molding, and door handles. A little more care in the prep work (and some removal of older layers of paint) would do a lot to make these apartments more attractive. Additionally, only one of the phone jacks in my apartment appears to work. I've not called maintenance to have them fix it yet, but plan to. We'll see how that goes. The electrical outlets, phone jacks, and cable hookups are all poorly located and somewhat limited. The electrical system places the bedroom, bathroom, living room, and dining room all on one circuit breaker. I've blown it twice already.
The office staff is a mixed bag. At times, they are friendly and already know my name (that could be because I've been a hassle). Other times they can be rude and unhelpful (even the same individuals). Everyone has their off days, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
I don't use the laundry rooms because of problems other residents have had, but their are laundromats in the area that are no more expensive (or even less so).
Overall, I'd recommend the complex, but it isn't a stellar recommendation. This complex suffers from a lot of the ills of older buildings and apartment living. The convenient location and pet-friendly lifestyle are big plusses for me. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
