Old, roach problem, assault

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
We've lived here for about 1.5 years, moving from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom. I've heard roaches are common in DC area, but we have roaches with 2-inch long bodies in our stairwell and last week, in our apartment. That was the last straw. Management has been informed numerous times about the roach problem and failed to act. They only spray inside apartments after one complains and ignore the stairwells, apparently. In addition, we've suffered through:
-- a toilet that overflowed twice
-- a broken air conditioning unit that took several days and several phone calls to repair;
-- problems getting phone and cable hook-ups;
-- smaller roaches in the kitchen of both apartments we were in;
-- ugly paint jobs inside the apartments -- obviously the painters are not professionals, there is paint on all the doorknobs, etc.;
It's a good location, but in this case you really do get what you pay for. Recently we were informed of an assault on the grounds. It's not as pricey as some other places and there is a reason for that.
